It's designed as an accessory for Visionis's standalone keypad/card readers, which have a built-in "doorbell interface" that supports an external wired doorbell — for example, the VIS-3000 doorbell interface supports an external wired doorbell, and the VIS-3002 also has a doorbell interface supporting an external wired doorbell.

So the reader has a dedicated press-button/signal output that the VIS-8006 chime connects to — when someone presses the doorbell button wired to the reader, the VIS-8006 sounds. 

 

Operating instructions:

1. Connect to a DC12V power source. Connect the red wire to positive (+) and the black wire to negative (–).
2. Connect the green and yellow wires together to trigger the doorbell — it will sound a two-tone "ding-dong." These are the signal wires.
